It’s not just another day in the classroom, it’s a glimpse into a future.
For more than 100 years, Junior Achievement has provided authentic experiential programs that expand economic opportunity for all students K-12.
A passionate community collective comes together as role models, partners, and volunteer mentors to challenge the status quo. This group, along with JA's professional staff, shapes our innovative, hands-on approach.
For those who want to equip, educate and empower young people (K-12), Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas is the experienced, committed partner with nationally developed programs. These programs include basic economics and financial literacy, offering a simulated introduction to real-world concepts, combining the ability to uniquely integrate interactive learning with real-world education.
Our loyal volunteers, donors, and stakeholders work together to blend experiential learning with classroom learning to foster an engaging, interactive experience. This gives our young people the skills and confidence they need for a successful future. Not just for themselves, but for the community as a whole.
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919 by Theodore Vail, president of Americas Telephone & Telegraph: Horace Moses, president of Strathmore Paper Co.; and Senator Murray Crane of Massachusetts. Its first program, JA Company Program®, was offered to high school students on an after-school basis. In 1975, the organization entered the classroom with the introduction of Project Business for the middle grades. Over the last 39 years, Junior Achievement has expanded its activities and broadened its scope to include in-house and after-school students.
In 1945 W. R. Archer, a Houston businessman brought Junior Achievement to Southeast Texas. For more than 75 years, Junior Achievement has been equipping area children with the workforce readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship skills they will need to succeed in a global economy.
